Kurai and Yuki took Kage back home. Kurai had a few deep gashes on him and was bleeding, so Yuki ordered Kage to go to his room and stay there.
Kage went to his room grudgingly. He closed the door behind him and lied down on his bed, gazing out the window at the bright moon in the sky.
After a little while, Kurai and Yuki entered. Kurai had fresh bandages on, although they were beginning to get stained with blood.
“Kagekao; what were you thinking!? You could have been killed!” Yuki scolded.
Kage grumbled something and sat up, but didn’t really respond.
“What possessed you to go to the city alone, and on top of that, to attack a shinigami!?” Kurai growled at him.
“I had to!” Kage looked up at him. “Dad, look what he did to your face!”
“Kage,” Kurai sighed, “I’d much rather lose half of my face then have a dead son.”
Kage was silent.
“I could have killed him, if only I had done it a little differently . . .” He stated quietly. Yuki and Kurai exchanged glances.
“You won’t be going to the city for a while now; you’re grounded.” Yuki said, and then both she and Kurai left.
Kage lied back down on his bed.
“I could have killed him. If only I had done something a little differently;” Kage whispered to himself, and began to think. “Yes, something a little differently . . .”

For the next couple of days, Kurai and Yuki kept a close eye on Kage. Kage tried to appear normal, like how he was before this all happened. However, the thought of Scollex still hung in his mind.
That night, Kage went in his room and lied down on his bed to sleep. Yuki opened the door and poked her head in.
“おやすみ、カゲカオ.” (Good night, Kagekao.) She said, and smiled.
Kage yawned and smiled back at her.
“おやすみ.” (Good night.)
Yuki closed the door softly, leaving Kage with only the dim light from outside the window. Kage waited for a while, maybe ten minutes, and then got up.
Kage walked over to the door silently, and listened to hear if he could detect if his parents were still awake; after hearing nothing, he changed into his black hoodie and walked over to the window. He opened it quietly and slipped out, shutting it behind him.

Kagekao approached the city silently, staying in the shadows. He decided that he would try this time a little differently, maybe stay quieter.
After entering the city, he, like the first time he came here alone, climbed on top of the buildings to look around. Seeing no one, he continued the search.
After a bit of jumping around from building to building, he finally found who he was looking for.
Looking down from a rooftop, Kage saw Scollex walking around below on the sidewalk. His wings weren’t out, so upon first seeing him one might think that he was a regular human in a mask.
Kage climbed down the wall and hopped onto a street lamp. Scollex did not notice him, and walked by normally.
Kagekao grinned; he unsheathed his claws and then jumped down. He landed on Scollex’s back, causing Scollex to snarl and morph both his hands into claws.
Kage hissed and sunk in his claws as to not get thrown off by Scollex’s movement. He reached out one of his hands towards Scollex’s face. The three large pairs of wings sprouted out of Scollex’s back, and began to flap around; trying to shake him off. Kage held fast and their attempts to knock him off were unsuccessful.
Scollex reached up his claws and grabbed at Kage, but Kage dodged them. He unsheathed his claws as far as they would go, and then shot his hand towards Scollex’s face. He reached under his eye mask, and plunged his claws into Scollex’s left eye.
Scollex screeched as blood ran down his face quickly, he managed to reach up and grab Kage’s back. He sunk his claws deep into Kage’s back and started to pull him off.
The pain seemed overwhelming, but Kage kept his grip. Scollex pulled harder, causing blood to well up on Kage’s back and soak into his clothes. Scollex managed to pull Kage off, but Kage took Scollex’s eye with him.
“You!?” Scollex was enraged when he saw Kage. He held him in front of him by his claws stuck in Kage’s back. Kage was grinning, and held Scollex’s left eye in his hand.
“You little fucker!” Scollex ripped one of his claws out of Kage’s back, causing Kage to yelp in pain. With this hand free he grabbed Kage by the neck and slammed him against a wall. Ripping the other claws out, he drew them back.
“I’m going to kill you slowly!” Scollex roared and began raking his claws against Kage’s torso. Kage shrieked in agony, and started trying to get out of his grip, but to no avail.
Scollex clutched his hand tighter, simultaneously strangling and mauling Kage. Kage could feel his warm blood running down his front and dripping to the ground, several feet below. He kicked out weakly, hardly affecting Scollex.
Gathering up his strength to make an effort to save himself; Kage kicked out as hard as his fleeting strength would let him. He managed to kick off Scollex’s eye mask, revealing an empty socket of a left eye and his remaining right eye. Being next to a streetlamp, the light of it struck him in his remaining eye.
Scollex snarled and covered his face with his hands, and then his wings; his remaining eye had begun to burn. Doing so, he dropped Kage to the ground. Kage laid on the ground for a few seconds, gasping for breath and coughing up blood. But he reached out and clung to the wall, pulling himself upward he managed to reach a window and crawl inside.
Luckily, the room he entered was empty. The wounds on his torso quickly leaked out a pool of blood around him. Kage lifted his hand into view, he was still holding Scollex’s eye. He laughed at the sight of it.
Outside, Scollex could be heard screeching because of the harsh light hitting his sensitive eye. Kage couldn’t see it, but Scollex had put his eye mask back on and was furiously looking for him. Not seeing where he had gone, Scollex couldn’t find him.
“I’ll get you; you fucking brat!! I’m going to fucking murder you!!”
Kage could hear Scollex moving around rapidly. He laughed as he clutched the wounds on his torso with his free hand.
In a few minutes, Kage heard Scollex move on to look elsewhere. He struggled to get to his feet, and then climbed out the window.
With much difficulty, Kage managed to make it back to the woods. His strength was leaving him very quickly, and blood was pouring out of him like it would never end. But still, he trudged onward back home.
He heard rustling in the trees, and looked up. Someone was approaching him fast.
“カゲカオ! 何してるの!?” (Kagekao! What are you doing!?) Kurai dropped down from the trees, and then gasped at the sight of his son covered in his own blood. “何した!?” (What did you do!?)
Kage held up his hand weakly.
“オイ、お父さん、見て.” (Hey, Dad, look.) He opened his hand to show Scollex’s left eye. “ケケケー！” (-laughter-)
Kage coughed, spraying blood to the ground. He fell against a tree and laughed again; and then passed out from blood loss.
